Colombian Mining & Exploration

The Reporter

The Reporter is our daily news byline, the one out on the beat every weekday, following Colombian stocks and mining in Colombia as the news comes in.

If The Editor is the senior hand at camp, The Reporter is the one up at first light checking the overnight releases, the regulator’s notices and the morning papers in Bogotá and Medellín before the coffee is properly brewed.

The beat is wide. It covers the producers and explorers in our company tracker, the permits and royalty rules that shape their projects, and the wider policy moves in Bogotá. The aim each morning is simple: tell you what changed, show you the source, and explain why it might matter.

What The Reporter writes

  • The Daily Brief, every weekday by about 10:30 a.m. Toronto time.
  • The Week Ahead, each Monday, the calendar of what to watch.
  • Analyst Corner, each Thursday, on how the sector is being read.
  • News on companies, projects, permits and policy.

How the Reporter byline works

We want to be plain about this. The Reporter byline covers AI-assisted drafting from primary sources. We use AI tools to help gather and draft the daily news from company releases, filings and official notices, including translation from Spanish.

No draft goes straight to the page. Every piece is checked and approved by The Editor before publication. Figures are compared with their sources, wording is tightened, and anything that cannot be confirmed comes out. The full process is set out in our editorial standards.

Where the news comes from

The Reporter works from primary material first: company news releases, SEDAR+ and exchange filings, NI 43-101 and JORC technical reports, and Colombian government sources such as the national mining agency, the environmental licensing authority and the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Reputable news outlets in English and Spanish fill in the picture. Every article links its sources. Our sourcing and corrections policy has the details.

Field note: If a Daily Brief item matters to you, click through to the filing. The summary gets you to the right page. The filing is the ground truth.
