Field Reports are our free long-form reports on Colombian mining and Colombian mining stocks. Each one is the kind of report a field geologist brings back to the board after a site visit: what we saw, what it means, and what to watch next.
Glad you are here. A good field report is plain and honest. It tells you where the outcrop is, what the core looks like, and which questions are still open. That is the spirit we bring to every one of these. Each Field Report is free, every fact in it is sourced, and subscribers to The Vein get each one first, before it appears on this page.
How Field Reports are researched
We start with primary sources: company technical reports and filings, national data from the ANM and ANLA, exchange records and court decisions, then reporting from established news organizations in Colombia and abroad. We read the Spanish-language sources in the original. Every figure is linked back to where it came from, and anything we could not confirm stays out. If we get something wrong, we correct it in the open, as set out in Sourcing & Corrections and our Editorial Standards.
Field note: A Field Report is not a stock tip. It is a map. It shows you the ground, the faults and the old workings, and leaves the decisions to you.
Who they are for
Field Reports are written for North American investors who want to understand Colombian stocks before they read another headline, and for the lawyers, executives and industry people who work alongside them. You do not need a geology degree. We explain the jargon the first time it comes up, and we keep the hype out. If you already know the country well, we hope you will still find a fact or two worth the walk. And if you are simply curious about how a country of mule tracks, river gravels and old Spanish workings became a home for modern exploration, you are in the right place.
The release order
We release the series one report at a time, in the order shown above. Field Report No. 1, Beyond El Dorado, comes first: a grounding in how Colombia went from the legend of a golden city to a modern mining jurisdiction with listed producers, developers and explorers. Later reports go deeper into the belts, the permits, the policy and the companies, building on our Companies & Projects tracker and the background in Colombia 101 and Policy & Permitting.
