Colombian Mining & Exploration

Section

Royalties & Taxes

When the ore comes out of the ground, the state takes its share. This section explains Colombia mining royalties, taxes and the wider fiscal terms that decide how much of a project’s value ends up with the company and its shareholders.

What we cover

• How mining royalties work in Colombia, and how they differ by commodity and scale.
• Corporate and other taxes that apply to mining companies.
• Proposed and enacted changes to fiscal terms, and how companies respond.
• How royalty and tax assumptions show up in technical studies and company guidance.

Why fiscal terms matter

The geology sets what’s in the ground. The fiscal regime helps set what it’s worth. A shift in royalties or taxes can change the economics of a study, the appetite of a buyer or the attractiveness of a whole jurisdiction. For anyone following Colombian mining stocks, that is worth understanding before the numbers move. We report changes as they are published, link to official sources and explain them in plain language. This is educational, not tax, legal or investment advice.
