Geology
This is where I’d hand you a hand lens and point at the hillside. The Geology section explains Colombia gold belt geology and the copper systems that sit alongside it: what the rocks are doing, why metal collects where it does, and what explorers mean when they talk about deposit types.
What we cover
• The gold and copper belts running through the Andes of Colombia, including the Middle Cauca belt.
• Porphyry deposits: large, lower-grade systems of copper and gold around ancient intrusions.
• Epithermal veins: the narrower, often higher-grade veins formed closer to the surface.
• Alluvial gold: metal weathered out of the hills and concentrated in the river gravels.
Why geology matters to investors
The type of deposit shapes almost everything that follows: how it’s drilled, how it’s mined, how much it costs and how long it takes. Knowing the difference between a porphyry and a vein system helps you read Colombian gold stocks and copper stocks with a clearer eye, and to see why two discoveries in the same belt can look nothing alike. We explain the concepts plainly, without promising what any property holds.
