Copper Giant (TSXV: CGNT)

Copper Giant Resources (TSXV: CGNT) owns Mocoa in Putumayo, one of the largest undeveloped copper-molybdenum porphyry deposits in the Americas, and has a first PEA due by the end of November 2026. Copper Giant stock now has a strategic shareholder in Denarius Metals and an offtake agreement with Trafigura, so the open question is whether the economics will match the deposit’s size.

About Copper Giant

Copper Giant, formerly Libero Copper & Gold and part of Frank Giustra’s Fiore Group, is a Vancouver-based explorer focused on southern Colombia. Its core asset is the 100%-owned Mocoa copper-molybdenum porphyry, about 10 km from the town of Mocoa in Putumayo. A porphyry is a large, usually low-grade deposit formed around an intrusion of magma. The company acquired Mocoa from B2Gold in 2018.

Mocoa sits in Colombia’s Jurassic porphyry belt, where Copper Giant holds more than 128,300 hectares of district-scale tenure. That includes the Cauca (Santa Rosa) applications next to Mocoa and the La Estrella target about 1.5 km to the south. In October 2026 it added Chaparral Block 39 in Tolima through the national copper tender run by the National Mining Agency (ANM).

2026 was a year of corporate de-risking. In April, the ANM approved merging Mocoa’s two titles into one concession with no forest-reserve overlap. In August, the company closed a C$31 million placement led by Denarius Metals and granted Trafigura offtake rights. In October, it published an updated resource with a first Indicated category.

Next is a preliminary economic assessment (PEA, an early-stage study of possible mine economics). CEO Ian Harris has said it will look at a phased build that adds identical processing lines over time to keep initial capital lower.

Mocoa

Mocoa is a bulk-tonnage porphyry in the foothills between the Andes and the Amazon, about 10 km from the town of Mocoa. It was discovered decades ago and later held by B2Gold, which sold it to the company in 2018. In April 2026, the ANM approved merging titles FJT-131 and FJT-141 into one concession, which reset the term to a new exploration stage. The company says the resource pit shell and underground shapes lie entirely outside any forestry reserve and outside any community.

The October 14, 2026 estimate added 8,546 m of drilling and introduced a first Indicated category. Total contained copper rose about 50% from November 2025, but the two estimates use different assumptions and are not directly comparable. The Inferred grade fell as tonnage grew. Copper equivalent (CuEq) is copper grade plus 5.383 times the molybdenum grade, using US$4.75/lb copper and US$25/lb molybdenum.

Drilling after the cut-off continues to find higher-grade zones. Hole MD-074 returned 135 m at 1.60% CuEq (1.02% Cu, 0.107% Mo) within 724 m at 0.78% CuEq. It is the company’s best interval over 100 m at Mocoa and the fourth hole above 1% CuEq in the higher-grade zone. Assays are pending from four holes, including two at La Estrella. Metallurgical testwork for the PEA is under way.

Resources: Indicated (in pit, 0.15% CuEq cut-off) 290 Mt at 0.54% CuEq (0.33% Cu, 0.038% Mo) for 2.13 Blb Cu and 0.24 Blb Mo; Inferred total 1.60 Bt at 0.40% CuEq (0.27% Cu, 0.025% Mo) for 9.36 Blb Cu and 0.89 Blb Mo, made up of 1.48 Bt in pit at 0.40% CuEq (0.15% cut-off) and 0.12 Bt below pit at 0.48% CuEq (0.408% cut-off). NI 43-101, effective Sept 24, 2026; independent QP Warren Black, P.Geo. (APEX Geoscience). No reserves.

Chaparral (Block 39)

Block 39 covers 1,614.73 hectares in the municipality of Chaparral, Tolima, on the eastern flank of the Central Cordillera about 85 km from Ibagué. It was awarded on August 24, 2026 in Colombia’s first national strategic-minerals tender, and the contract was signed October 9, 2026. Five companies signed contracts in the tender, including Zijin’s South American subsidiary and a unit of Mineros.

The contract starts with a one-year technical evaluation stage, which can be extended by a year, and the company can exit without penalty before exploration. There is no acquisition payment. If the block reaches production, it would owe extra economic (1.5%) and social (2.0%) considerations on top of royalties. Government survey data show copper and molybdenum anomalies and porphyry-style alteration over the Ibagué Batholith. The company has not explored the block yet and says Mocoa remains its priority.

Resources: No mineral resource yet.

Key risks for Copper Giant stock

  • Low grade and large scale: economics depend on throughput, strip ratio, molybdenum credits and very large capital, which the PEA has not yet shown
  • Most of the resource (1.60 Bt) is Inferred, and a PEA can include Inferred material that may never be upgraded
  • Location: Putumayo has a history of armed-group presence, limited infrastructure, and a sensitive environmental setting between the Andes and the Amazon
  • Financing: building any phase will need capital far above today’s market value; Trafigura’s offtake does not include project funding
  • Copper and molybdenum price sensitivity, with CuEq based on US$4.75/lb Cu and US$25/lb Mo
