Trust is earned one story at a time. These editorial standards explain how Veta Madre Review reports on Colombian stocks and mining in Colombia: what we publish, where it comes from, and the rules we hold ourselves to.
We wrote this page so you can check our work against it. If you ever think we have fallen short, tell us at [email protected].
Independence
Our coverage of Colombian mining companies and explorers is decided on editorial grounds alone.
- We do not publish paid coverage presented as news. No company can buy a story, a headline or a place in the Daily Brief.
- Sponsored content, if we publish it, is always labelled “Sponsored” and names the sponsor, so you know exactly who paid for it.
- Companies never review stories before publication. We may contact a company to confirm a fact or ask for comment, but they do not see or approve the article.
Accuracy and primary sources
We start from primary sources wherever they exist: company news releases, regulatory filings, technical reports and official Colombian government records. Secondary reporting is used for context and is credited. Every article links the sources behind its figures and key claims, so you can follow the trail back yourself.
When a source is in Spanish, we translate it and link the original. When something is unconfirmed, we say so, or we leave it out. Our sourcing and corrections policy lists the sources we rely on.
Technical disclosure
Mining numbers carry specific meanings, and we try to keep them straight.
- Mineral resources, mineral reserves and drill results we report come from company filings prepared under NI 43-101 (the Canadian standard for disclosure of mineral projects) or the JORC Code (the Australasian equivalent).
- We do not independently verify technical data. We report what the company has disclosed and link the filing.
- We distinguish between reserves (the economically mineable part of a resource, supported by a feasibility-level study), resources (an estimate of mineralization with reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction), historical estimates (older estimates not verified as current under today’s standards) and exploration results (individual drill intercepts and samples, which are not resources).
- Where a company reports drill intercepts, we note when widths are not stated as true widths, and we avoid presenting a single hole as if it defines a deposit.
Field note: A great intercept is a reason to keep reading, not a conclusion. Our Mining 101 series explains how a drill hole becomes a resource, and why most never do.
Conflicts of interest
The publisher of Veta Madre Review and its principals may hold securities in, or have business relationships with, resource companies. Where any such interest relates to a company or project discussed in an article, we disclose it in that article.

How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with drafting, summarizing and translating from primary sources. Much of this work appears under The Reporter byline. The rules are firm:
- A person reviews and approves every piece before publication. That is the role of The Editor.
- Every figure is checked against its source document before it goes live.
- AI tools are not used to invent quotes, sources or data, and anything that cannot be confirmed is removed.
Not investment advice
Everything we publish about Colombian stocks is educational information. We do not make buy, sell or hold recommendations, and we do not publish price targets. Mining and exploration carry real risk, including the loss of your whole investment. Do your own research and speak with a qualified, registered advisor before making decisions.
Fairness and right of reply
When a story raises a serious question about a company, a project or a person, we try to give them a fair chance to respond before publication, and we report that response in their own terms. If they decline or do not reply in reasonable time, we say so. We report risks and setbacks as plainly as discoveries and milestones, because a reader following a junior explorer needs both.
We also try to be fair to the places we write about. Mining in Colombia touches communities, rivers, forests and local economies. Our ESG coverage reports those stories from the record, including the views of the people who live closest to the projects.
Opinion, analysis and news
News reports what happened and links the source. Analysis explains what it may mean. Opinion and editorials argue a view, and are labelled as such. We keep these apart so you always know which one you are reading.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. How to report an error, how fast we act and how corrections are noted are set out on our Sourcing & Corrections page.
Thank you for holding us to these standards. It makes the work better. Questions are welcome on our contact page. Follow the Vein.
